-- but then -- as we found out when i installed 2-6 on New Year's Day --
the compiler jams up, because it has to read the instructions
as one long line. what i get is a series of lines each ending \ :
only when i delete the newlines (eventually for 2-6, straightway for 2-7)
does it compile successfully.
-- of course, IF everyone has to delete the newlines,
THEN the documentation should say so somewhere.
i assumed it was a mismatch somewhere between standard-issue Lynx
& our system here.
