Are you sure about this?  Slackware 3.0 comes with kernel 2.0.0.  At least
this is what I installed on my system when I downloaded it from the net.
It's possible you have some of the shared libraries wrong, although if you
aren't getting a real crash and/or core dump, I'm not sure.
