Actually I did consider making the suggestion last time round, but:
- I don't want to do it myself, because I have a metered phone service, and
because I don't log onto commercial sites unless I have good cause for
letting them know about me;
- I didn't suggest it to the questioner because it is a reasonable assumption
that they wouldn't know how to intelligently prune the log, and there
would be a massive email to the list containing the whole log. Generally
those who know how to interpret logs will have already obtained them and
may well have resolved the problem offline.
Note, as also hinted by Foteos' later reply, the logic behind logins is
not normally "how can we make the system secure?", but "how can we get more
reliable information about the target for our advertisers?". The businesses
are advertising businesses; they are looking for services that people will
think it reasonable or necessary to logon for.
