1) Lynx is not primarily a newsreader - use something like trn;
2) there are more serious problems with the newsreader function, e.g.
a recent, unverified, report suggests that it doesn't generate
complete References: lines, which means that a Lynx posting
can break missing article recovery in threading readers, and
prevent threads with an expired root article from being associated,
even if subsequent postings are correct;
3) it already does in the index mode;
4) in the standard news: URL format (by message-ID) it is very expensive
to do in thread order (dejanews will have a database with the threading
information), and you have to arbitrarily choose one of the newsgroups
to do it in article number order (backwards in thread order is
relatively easy - it might already do this);
5) in article number mode, you would need a special link, because there
may be missing numbers, and that link may actually break when you
follow it - in any case, article number order is not a good
way to read a newsgroup - you really need a thread walk;
6) although Mosaic had an integrated newsreader, the big 2 now use a
separate application to read news.
