no problem (you don't see the bugs that keep me busy - reproducing and
analyzing some take quite a while). so I'm well aware that some things
that I've gotten used to (like the different versions of 'patch') are
stumbling blocks. and others (perhaps your display problem with ncurses)
may be a bug that I've simply not encountered the right conditions to
reproduce it for myself.
for example, I noticed a bug in xterm a couple of weeks ago, while demo'ing
it (under some circumstances there's a cursor dropping). it seemed
intermittent, but I could reproduce it - only on the first time through a
particular program. but I was working on a change to xterm, and found a
way to reproduce it reliably (by simply changing the way I ran my testing
;-). once I saw _that_, I traced back and found the bug's been there for
at least two years. no one reported it, and I didn't see it myself until
two weeks ago. (Now all I have to do is to fix it...)
