lynx-dev bug in recent lynx 2.8.2dev releases

When I go to a link to a binary file, and press return (causing lynx to
attempt to load the page as HTML), lynx determines it is binary and
tries to ask me if I want to download the file. This code was broken
recently - I just don't know when.
I go to <URL:http://sol.slcc.edu/lynx/current/>. I move down to one of the
.bz2 links and press return. I am seeing this at the bottom of the screen.

Notice the s? I think it is supposed to say something...

Here's my config info. SPARC Solaris 2.6,Sun cc 4.2, ncurses 4.2 patched thru
the first week of November and these compile flags.

export LIBS=" -L/ldatae/lib -R/ldatae/lib -lz
-L/projects/gnu/sparc-sun-solaris2.6/lib
-R/projects/gnu/sparc-sun-solaris2.6/lib -lncurses "
export CPPFLAGS="-I/ldatae/include -I/projects/gnu/sparc-sun-solaris2.6/include"
export CFLAGS="-g"
export CC=cc

  $PWD/configure --prefix=/projects/intranet \
        --libdir=/projects/intranet/lib/lynx \
        --includedir=/projects/gnu/sparc-sun-solaris2.6/include \
        --with-screen=ncurses \
        --with-included-gettext \
        --with-catgets \
        --with-zlib \
        --enable-default-colors \
        --enable-extended-dtd \
        --enable-externs \
        --enable-forms-options \
        --enable-nsl-fork \
        --enable-partial \
        --enable-persistent-cookies \
        --enable-debug

I don't know whether GNU's gettext or Sun's is being used.
