this doesn't happen for me (see my key list below):
like Down-arrow, if there is a link on the same page, it goes there;
if not, both act like Space (goto next page).

this is true, but rather remarkable,
since Tab & Down-arrow are both given the same meaning in my key listing.
here's what k gives me, ie the default without conscious changes by me:
<tab> NEXT_LINK make the next link current
Down Arrow NEXT_LINK make the next link current
how can NEXT_LINK give different behaviours depending on key used?
shouldn't this be reflected in `Current Key Map'?
also i note the following apparently otiose default bindings:
^F NEXT_PAGE view the next page of the document
<space> NEXT_PAGE view the next page of the document
+ NEXT_PAGE view the next page of the document
, NEXT_PAGE view the next page of the document
all 4 have the same effect, as advertised,
so presumably this gives 3 keys available for new uses, if required.
