Most likely, you have configured lynx to use a proxy for http: URLs
(but not ftp: URLs). Check lynx.cfg, check whether environment variable
"http_proxy" is set.
The proxy may be misconfigured. Use lynx -trace to see what is going on
(in Lynx.trace, or with ';').

What else is on that page? Normally the name of the proxy software should
appear somewhere.
