So it is not (my first thought) a bug related to the improper nesting of
the html.  tidy has a lot to say about the file (9748 warnings).  One that
catches my eye is the use of SPAN, which is (mis)used in lynx to setup
color style.  I won't try to fix that (now), but will take a look at what
valgrind is telling me...
