I've been waiting for a resolution to the deadlock we're having over
maintainance of the mailing list (waiting 1-2 weeks for requests to
be completed isn't a workable state of affairs).

That's possible - lynx.isc.org does not usually seem to be short of
diskspace.  Frederic says he has a cleaned-up copy of the mail archives
(but I haven't investigated how to convert that into a searchable
archive).
