Subject: Seeking feedback on changing visibility of email addresses in the
list archives
What you write makes sense. I have no opinion pro or con, personally.
Stray thought: I think one possible outcome will be a rise in the number
of requests to remove email addresses from archives, because now the
email will be visible as text to search engines. If google search
returns one of our msgs, people request removal.
But since you handle those requests anyway, clearly it's entirely up to
you :). --best, karl.
P.S. Another hassle with the purported obfuscation is that other uses of
@ (e.g., in TeX control sequences and other identifiers) get
obfuscated. Happens more often with savannah tickets. It's a nontrivial
problem for readability.
