i fixed the problem; the solution is here for anyone else who might have the same issue:

usually scheme is installed here - C:\Program Files\MIT-GNU Scheme
if you install under a different folder, for example a different drive-> H:\MIT-GNU Scheme, then to supress the error simply
change the name of the folder to "scheme" -> H:\scheme

of course the wasn't the only issue i ran into; then it started to complain about the utabmd microcode table. it just needs
the path-> (start scheme as follows) H:\scheme\bin\scheme.exe -utabmd H:\scheme\lib\utabmd.bin. at this point all you
need is a shortcut on the desktop to scheme with the commandline options above. excelsior.

i have installed the following binary mit-scheme-20090107-ix86-win32 on my account at school. everytime i try to run scheme by double clicking or from the commandline i get this error :

scheme: can't find a reasonable default for option --band. searched for file all.com in these directories: scgeme\lib Reason for termination: Inconsistency detected.

i extracted the files to a virtual drive that the school provides each student, which i believe was okay since there was a browse button in the ui. code you please assist. thanks.
