It's not obvious to me why this is happening, so I'm trying a
bisection to find out what's wrong, although I'm seeing various
other failure modes in other commits too, like `bad fasl data' for
lib/runtime.com.
Never mind about the `bad fasl data' errors...I am now reminded of why
I used to call that temporary directory for runtime's .com files
`runtime-com' instead of `runtime.com'!
