Details:

Ubuntu 9.04
EDK server on local network (hosted by ISP).
Client connects to server and is able to perform searches, but
downloading/uploading doesn't work. After switching on allow_local_network
option everything works ok. The problem was to understand that one should use
this option cause the log messages were not helpful ([bS] CLOSING: FD donkey
client connection:19 (error READ_DONE Error: Pervasives.Exit) and the option
comment ("only for debugging") discourages it's usage. So this is mainly a
documentation issue.

I'm not having any problems compiling that file with
the current version of the C compiler. Please re-open
a new bug with a 10-line test case if you are still
experiencing problems.

I'll need a better test case than this. I cannot reproduce.
