The main reason for trying to do it was to get rid of having to having to
do

if stuff...
  p->start;
else if stuff...
  p->stop;

and wanting to do

if check_script
   c;

I'll figure out another way of doing it. Too bad it's not perl. In the
meantime, I wanted to leave a working version checked in.>
