ChangeLog: 

* Joined ET_BRANCH_POINT with ET_ARTIFICIAL into ET_SYMBOL. Instead of
  using that new artificial blob type, it's much more clean to handle
  tags and branches the same: add a symbol blob, which may be split, plus
  a tag or branch start blob, which may not be split, but which can very
  well depend on multiple symbol blobs.
* Removed the recently added artificial blob creation code from
  split_blob_at().
* Added an append_event_to() function to append an event to a specific
  blob.
