Hi Nat et al
I was just thinking about a common problem which I had in Clearcase -
there is no way to 'locally edit' a file without checking it out(*), and
developers often checked these files in by mistake. For example a local
file which contains a complex set of parameters, some of which need to be
edited to parameterise tests etc, or a file in which the developer wants
to put a quick hack during testing.
(*) actually there is but is requires messing about with congig-specs to
create eclipsed files and devs shouldn't be allowed to touch their config
specs.
It would be nice to have the facility to mark a file as 'do not commit'
which then makes it ignored by commits until marked as 'ok to commit'
again, plus a command to list these 'locally modified' files like ls
uknown does for non-managed files.
Thoughts?
Joel
