Hello,
Did you get NeL from the .tgz or .zip? You should not use them but use
the CVS tree
Look at that page for explanations:

Subject: [Nel] Compilation problems with Nel
I am a major noob with this thing. I have searched around, and couldnt
find the answere to my question, and I have tried many things. Well, I
will explain my problem.
I have everything, I have compiled STLport, LibMX. Freetype, OpenAL,
DirectX9, EAX2, and I have out the lib and the include directories on
Visual C++ like soppused to. Now, my problem is when I open up nel.dsw I
get a blank workspace, and if its not blank, it says all the makefiles
are not from visualC++ and it has to make a new one. I have done that
and it saves it as the same file with a 1 at the end of the name. and
when I try to compile, it says there is no mak file.
I have exported Makefile from Visual C++, but it wont work. I have tried
to make one also, with dos, but when I put it NMAKE /f 3d.mak
it
says it cant find 3d.mak . I am stuck.
I have Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 , with service pack 5 and the
processor pack. I dont know what do to next. Any help please.
