Yes :). But nethack-el devel has been uhm..slow for a while. we're
back on the horse (sorta) now.

This seems strange. We have an automated test rule that applies the
patch to a fresh nethack tarball and makes sure it builds.
Can you describe exactly what you did? What files you edited etc?
Also, what OS are you doing this on?
You should be able to get it to build by applying the patch to a fresh
tarball, then running:
cd /path/to/nethack/sys/unix && sh ./setup.sh
then run make in /path/to/nethack
did you do anything more than that?
