I get this message from solaris when I put "passwd: files
mysql" in nsswitch.conf:

Supported configurations for passwd management are as follows:
    passwd: files
    passwd: files ldap
    passwd: files nis
    passwd: files nisplus
    passwd: compat
    passwd: compat AND
    passwd_compat: ldap OR
    passwd_compat: nisplus
Please check your /etc/nsswitch.conf file
Password: 

I don't think it is a nss-mysql problem, it is because
solaris 9 is restricted to authenticate only what Sun thinks
solaris should. What can we do about it?

I am very open to help to test it under solaris 9. I have a
job assigned to me to set up a solaris box to authenticate
with solaris. My time is yours, what tests do you want me to
do?

p.s.
The only inconvinience is that we have to make tests on a
production machine at nights, but that's not a big problem.
