Okay, i removed the old nss-mysql installed by gentoo, configured 

nss-mysql with --enable-debug, checked that DEBUG is defined as 1 in 

src/config.h and rebootet.  

 

Now I get lot of logs when I "ls -l" files owned by users in the mysql-db, 

but if I run su I don't get any logs... getent now also hangs, and after 

running getent there are no logs in auth.log.

Ok, this shows that syslog works as expected. It looks like

you are not running the version compiled in debug mode.
