right, I've set this up on 3 gentoo 1.4 computers now,

getting the same problem on all 3.

I've found that if I have this in my nsswitch.conf, things

work without problems

group: compat

passwd: files mysql

shadow: files mysql

So it seems it's just groups that nss-mysql doesn't like.

Can anyone else confim this behaviour?

I tried, but when I `add it' to nsswitch.conf it isn't being

used until I reboot and with the debug version the reboot

fails as described previously.
