Are you encountering the problem of mysqld not being able to start up at
boot time? I've encountered this behaviour before. I forget, now, how I
solved it -- or if I solved it at all. What you could do is keep two
copies of nsswitch.conf -- one with mysql and one without. At the end
of your mysqld rc script, replace the non-mysql nsswitch.conf with the
nsswitch.conf that uses mysql.
