Hi,

Here is an idea for nuapplet2.

what I've changed it to do. is to run quietly, without any window popping up.  
It polls to see if it can connect to the nuauth port on the firewall.  If it 
can, it then asks the user for credentials, and it sets the window to always on 
top.  This is for laptops, that are sometimes not on our network, like when 
they are at home.  It is also to make it so that the users can't miss that when 
they are on our network, as they need to authenticate when on our network.

The attached patch is not suitable to apply, as it has hard coded ip address in 
it, and I don't think I should be using sleep at all, probably should be using 
timers.

However, I hope the idea's here are useful.
