Follow-up Comment #2, bug #41955 (project octave):

I did try to install image-acquisition version 0.1.1 manually ( echo pkg
install image-acquisition-0.1.1.tar.gz | octave )
And this gave me a different error:
cl_img_win.cc: In member function 'void img_win::custom_label(const char*,
unsigned int, double)':
cl_img_win.cc:83:11: error: 'snprintf' was not declared in this scope
g++: error: cl_img_win.o: no such file or directory
But then is does give the default finished message about: run news....
I did search for the file (cl_img_win.o) and did find it in the
/tmp/oct-######/ folder next to the .h and the .cc
