Follow-up Comment #18, bug #42097 (project octave):

I would debug this problem by finding out precisely what arguments Octave is
passing to DGEEV and what values it returns before Octave post-processes the
results to return them in the form of diagonal matrices, etc.  Then I would
create a separate program that passes exactly the same arguments to DGEEV but
that does not depend on Octave in any way.  I would expect the separate
program to show the same problem.  If it does, the problem is in the lapack or
blas libraries.  If it does not, then I'd have to determine why there is a
difference.  Maybe the problem is in the way Octave is post-processing the
results returned from DGEEV.

For the record, I'm not able to reproduce the results you shown in comment #5.
 I get the same results as shown in comment #6.
