Follow-up Comment #4, bug #42133 (project octave):
Regarding Installation:
I downloaded octave-3.8.1.tar.bz2 from the ftp site, untarred it and compiled
using ./configure the installed using make install
I'm using gcc and g++ v4:4.8.1.
To repeat: This behaviour only happens in GUI mode, NOT in terminal mode.
