Follow-up Comment #17, bug #39495 (project octave): I would be fine committing the last diff if you like. I think we should probably address the FIXME note about not overriding existing axis preferences if ishold is on. For example, when I use hold on and call polar several times I end up with several copies of the polar hggroup. It would be better to just keep a single copy and adjust it as necessary. Maybe test ishold and if it is on, look for an hggroup with the tag "polar_grid".
