if you start the up bundle by clicking the icon it is strange that your
gnuplot tries to use the aqua terminal. Maybe you have another version of
gnuplot in the path?
try the following:
system (["which " gnuplot_binary])
getenv GNUTERM
what does it tell you?

Yes history browsing on the mac GUI did never work before
version 3.8.2, that is known.
