Follow-up Comment #17, bug #45659 (project octave): Markus: Since the shell script in build-aux just runs a single shell command, I don't think we need it. The other scripts that do substitutions are there because they substitute configuration variables and it is better to put those variables in a shell script that embed them in the Makefile. That's also why those shell scripts are generated at configure time. What happens with this hg id substitution if you are building from a tar file distribution?
