Follow-up Comment #19, bug #49214 (project octave): fopen worked fine for me. This was with a Windows XP virtual machine. Perhaps newer versions of Windows are stricter? Also, I used fopen ("filename", "a") because I thought that was probably how the internals were working. I just checked with "w" and that does not work.
