Follow-up Comment #2, bug #51741 (project octave): I am able to load the file in Octave 4.2.1 on Windows 10 64bit. >> clear all >> load ex4data1.mat >> who Variables in the current scope: X y Does your Windows user name contain any non-ASCII characters or do you try to load the file from a directory containing non-ASCII characters?
