Update of bug #54372 (project octave):
Status: None => Confirmed
Summary: axis handle as an input to camlight => camlight
(axis_handle, ...) should work for Matlab Compatibility

Confirmed. I don't know if this is a new feature or not, but it shouldn't be
difficult to implement. Most of the plot routines can accept an axis handle
as the first argument and there is a specific function for getting it. See
plot.m for an example of usage
[hax, varargin, nargs] = __plt_get_axis_arg__ ("plot", varargin{:});
