Follow-up Comment #18, bug #48678 (project octave):

@Mike: The discussion stopped on this bug back in July.  Do we want to start
using LDFLAGS as the proper name for linker flags in 5.0?  It seems like we
probably need to deprecated LFLAGS over two releases as you pointed out that
the Octave-Forge packages are making use of the variable.
