Follow-up Comment #35, bug #53841 (project octave): Sorry for the confusion, I really should have opened a new bug report. In libgui/src/documentation.cc (documentation::documentation) we call m_help_engine->copyCollectionFile (m_collection) to copy the collection file from its original (write-protected) location to the temp directory. That was failing for me. After running, Octave once as an administrator (i.e. with write access to the location the collection file is stored) the error disappeared. During this run, the collection file changed in size.
