Follow-up Comment #10, bug #55225 (project octave): It looks like creating and destroying ui objects synchronously was not a definite fix, but rather made this bug less probable. This shows that the issue was clearly not what I though it was (I was sure this bug could simply not happen anymore). Furthermore the synchronous approach made things slower. I'll work on this when I find some time. @Dmitri: It is strange that creating txt files (that don't even involve creating a figure) crash Octave.
