Follow-up Comment #24, bug #56232 (project octave): I want to avoid "the tail wagging the dog". We want to use UMFPACK, but someone else's decisions on internal code organization should not dictate how Octave works. For interoperation we should do whatever is necessary at the API join between the two code bases.
