author, and some FIXME notes before checking it in here

I've marked the bug as Ready for Test since I can't confirm that the patch
works or not. Also, when you get around to testing, could you check whether
the function disable_app_nap needs to be member function (even though
private) of base_qobject? It seems like it would be simpler to have the
function be a static file local function in base_qobject.cc that is never seen
outside the file.
