Follow-up Comment #3:

Rik, did you run comment #2 with "stable" or "default"?  In 5.X or "stable"
there is no error or warning.  But for "default"

I can confirm Pantxo's observation.  Anyways, your observation, Rik, was
excellent.  When creating this code, I just didn't had this obvious case in
mind and it must have (unfortunately) worked "well enough" until your cset
from 16 Oct 2019
