Follow-up Comment #10, bug #59128 (project octave): I think that's sensible. IMHO, Monaco or Menlo would be good choices on Mac: they have shipped with the system for ages, so should be available on every modern Mac system. (Monaco goes back to the pre-OSX days; I'm not sure how far back Menlo goes.)
