Which LaTeX are you using?
I just tested with the binaries from MiKTeX (updated today) and Octave 7.3.0
on Windows 11. And the example on that documentation page fails with the
expected warnings.
If I change the exemplary command to `title ("$x^2$", "interpreter",
"latex")`, the title shows the rendered LaTeX string.
PS: A little less upper case and exclamation marks in the title would still
have worked. 😉
