Follow-up Comment #1:

Version 3.0.0 is quite old now and following the link in the original post,
newer versions of the control package seem to build without failing tests.
Moreover there were some changes in the package to make tests for robust.

Closing this report as fixed. If there are new occurrences of failed test, a
new report can be opened.
