Follow-up Comment #8, bug #35787 (project octave):
similar to comments made in bug #34173, there is a suggestion to deprecate
some of the specialty matrices (diagonal, permutation) as there have been few
resources available to move on issues like this in about a decade. This
problem would still need to be fixed eventually for sparse matrices, so unless
diag/perm matrices would inherit that fix, suggest the same thing stated over
on the other report that disable_diagonal_matrix become the default in
upcoming octave releases with eventual removal. In that case this should get
closed as a won't fix.
