Follow-up Comment #1:

This works for me on Kubuntu 22.04.  But, I am using the release candidate
9.0.90 which is about to become Octave version 9.1.

One possibility would be to build from source and see if the problem has been
fixed.  Or wait until version 9.1 and check again.
