The bytecode-interpreter branch is built and the test suite is run (plus a few
additional tests) on each commit to the bytecode-interpreter branch on Ubuntu,
Alpine, macOS, and *Windows*. E.g., from 2 hours ago:

However, all of these builds are native and do not require creating a
tarball.
It might be worth adding a step to the CI to create that tarball just to make
sure it doesn't break (at least on one of the platforms - probably best on
Ubuntu).
