The changes from version 4.2.2 to 8.4 are much, much larger than those from
8.4 to 9.1.  I would expect much less trouble.  Also, as 9.1 is available for
download, it wouldn't be too much of an effort to check whether 1) the problem
with the editor is fixed, and 2) any of your scripts are disrupted.  If there
are still disruptions then you could make the decision about which problem is
more onerous: text selection or updating your m-files.
