I did some quick checks and it is a mixed bag.
Cmd-O works
Cmd-N works
Cmd-W fails
Cmd-S fails
Cmd-+ works
Cmd-- works
Cmd-A works
Cmd-C works
Cmd-V works
Cmd-X fails
Cmd-Z works
Cmd-F fails
Cmd-D fails
Cmd-R fails
Cmd-Space fails (brings up macOS spotlight search)

Yes, a user defined shortcut works for Save File. I changed the key to
CTRL-SHIFT-S and tried that. Those keys now save a modified file.
