Follow-up Comment #6, bug #65769 (group octave):
I was seeing this same behavior on Octave 9.2.0 on Windows 10. I added the
path to the current directory in my ~/.octaverc file with addpath("~"). This
seems to have fixed the problem at least for files saved in that directory.
Note that the current directory is now listed twice in the Octave search path,
once as "." and once as "C:\Users\DennisC". The addpath("~") call in .octaverc
added the second entry which matches the text displayed as the current
directory in the GUI toolbar.
P.S. I must still save all files in the current directory since I can't
navigate in the File Save As dialog under Windows without the dialog hanging.
