Follow-up Comment #3:
I have added checks of the input parameters being "NaN" or "Inf" in numerous
internal oct-files of the control packages (commit
https://github.com/gnu-octave/pkg-control/commit/782e48fef5f21e937042500ad00045f3a7f1c783)
in order to prevent octave from hanging or crashing in these functions.
The change will be included in the upcoming release 4.1.1 of the control
package.
