Follow-up Comment #4, bug #66753 (group octave):

I think this is another case that shows that having a special range type as a
space-saving optimization just causes more trouble than it is worth.

For now, I guess it would be simplest to change anything that compares the
result of typeinfo to "range" to use "double_range" instead.
